iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad Apps
A great way to enjoy our meditations and music!
We’re excited about applications and what they allow us to do that we can’t do with an album or the podcast. The ability to adjust the voice and music volumes separately is an example of the added value that an app gives. Here’s a brief description of the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad apps we have so far, with links to the iTunes store where you can read more detail and purchase the apps if you wish.
If you already have an App and are looking for support, click here.

You can listen to the meditations with or without several choices of music or nature sounds. (formerly Remember to Breathe)
CHANGE YOUR BREATHING HABITS WITH 3 SIMPLE TOOLS
1 – BREATHING REMINDERS — All it takes is a simple reminder to help you start breathing again. You can program the app to remind you to breathe throughout the day. Choose from voice prompts, sounds or use the silent mode and receive visual reminders only. Choose how often you wish to be reminded.
2 – FOUR BREATHING BREAK AUDIOS — These audios are designed to help you take brief breathing breaks during the day. There are four to choose from, each with a slightly different focus — Basic Breath Awareness, Deep Breathing, Pleasure Breathing, and Belly Breathing. Once the Breathing audio gets you started, you can continue your breathing break for as long as you’d like.
3 – BREATHING EXERCISE — This simple voice-guided exercise will help you learn to breath in a regular, easy way. Instead of a complicated exercise in which you have to count, pause, or breathe in a very particular way, this exercise uses an intuitive approach. It guides you to tune into your body and discover your own, natural way of breathing. The exercise is pleasurable to do and you’ll look forward to doing it rather than feeling it’s a chore. You can practice this as often as you wish to help your body get into the habit of breathing regularly and effectively.

At Ease – Anxiety & Worry Relief
Our At Ease app contains a unique approach to relieving anxiety and worry. With a combination of voice-guided breathing meditations, exercises and journaling, At Ease is intended to make deep and lasting change rather than applying a temporary “band aid”. Most people will experience immediate relief using the guided breathing meditations, but the long term benefit of At Ease will come from using the breathing meditations, exercises and journaling regularly over time.
Available for iPad, iPhone & iPod Touch (one page of iPad version pictured here). Read more in the iTunes store.
Attunement – music to upgrade your life
Enjoy Richard’s beautiful music with the Attunement App. Perfect for meditation, yoga, massage, exercise, or simply relaxing, this app has seven selections of music, each with its own special effect –
Relaxing, Energizing, Healing, Surrender, Primordial, Grounding and Inner Peace.
You can play any single piece from 5-60 minutes, and create a playlist of your favorites in the order you prefer. It makes a great meditation timer for those who like to meditate with music!

Simply Being: Guided Meditation for Relaxation and Presence
Let go of the mind and “simply be”. Choose a 5, 10, 15 or 20 minute meditation with the Simply Being theme. The app allows you to listen to the meditations with or without music or nature sounds. You can adjust the voice and music/nature sounds volumes separately. In addition to having just the right mix for you, this allows you to listen with or without music, and to listen to the music alone.

Relax & Rest Guided Meditations
Perfect at bedtime, or anytime you want to relax, this app has three different meditations of varying lengths. Choose from a 5 minute breath meditation, our very popular 13 min Deep Rest Meditation or a 24 min whole body meditation. Each meditation gives you the option to continue longer on your own after the voice-guidance ends. You can adjust the voice and music volumes separately. In addition to having just the right mix of voice and music for you, this allows you to listen with or without music, and to listen to the music alone. New nature sounds option: instead of music you can now choose from 3 different nature sounds as a background to the voice guided meditations.

Meditation Oasis Podcast App
The podcast app, developed by Wizzard Media, gives you easy access to all of our podcast meditations. We’ve added written Comments and Tips on each meditation, as well as some Bonus Music. A Star Feature allows you to create a “favorites” page. With the app, you can easily connect with us through email, our website, Facebook or Twitter. The app works on iPhone and iPod Touch. (Note: This is a “streaming app”. iPod Touch users can download meditations for use in Offline Mode, but will not be able to access all of the apps features while offline.) This is a great way to listen to the podcast and helps to support the podcast at the same time!

Are any of your meditations available to download onto my blackberry?
We don’t have any blackberry apps, but we did hear from someone that she listens to the podcast through an app called Viigo.
You can download any of our podcast meditations from our Listen to Our Podcast page, but I don’t know it it’s possible to then put the mp3 onto your blackberry (don’t have one and don’t know what it can do).
Just Love the guided meditation !!! Thank you so much. Your products are of excellent quality and this way it is affordable and accessible. Top points for staying up to date with Technology.
You are welcome, Edsia. Thank you for your kind words.
I just updated the podcast app, and now I can’t get into it. I get an alert that there is no connection (which there is). Help, please
Steve, the developer of the Meditation Oasis Podcast App is Wizzard Media. Please visit their support page or email them at support@libsyn.com for help with that app.
I just wanted to say i found your sleep easy guided meditation CD very helpful as i suffer from chronic insomnia, and i am now buying your podcast app.
Thanks so much!
You are welcome, Adam. Enjoy the App!
I am a long-time meditator and I was looking for something simple to help me ease into sleep. I was delighted to find your Relax and Rest app. It is just what I wanted! Simple, pleasant, light, easy… all these descriptive words apply for me. I was also pleasantly surprised with the music. It moves smoothly with the meditation and continues easily after the verbal instructions end with “You can stay in this space…”
Thank you so much, Ann, for leaving a comment. We’re so pleased the App is working so well for you. Best wishes.
I just felt like I needed to say thank you both for your work in bringing meditation to so many of us through the iPod touch app. I have been dealing with anxiety and depression for quite a long time now,and what a blessing to discover Meditation Oasis..and Mary’s calming and relaxing voice ( I have never heard a voice so suited to guiding meditations !!! soo helps to center and balance my mind/body/spirit…) and Richards Music that is incredible ! I now use the podcasts every evening before I go to sleep..and I so look forward to that time.
I was wondering if you would ever consider coming to Portland,Oregon and leading a retreat/workshop ? again..thank you for your work and effort !! you are both making a difference !! Bless~sings and peace to you…
You are welcome, Patrick. We’re so pleased the meditations are helping! Right now we’re not open to doing retreats for a number of reasons, but you can always check back with us (in at least 6 months). I like that “Bless~sings” and we send that right back to you!
Open the application, choose a piece of music, just sit back and listen and pay attention to your body. The Attunement application has been a great tool if relaxation for me. Among all the music therapy application I have used so far, I think the music in Attunement is the most powerful and effective. I look forward to hearing more of Richard Maddux’s compositions.
Can you recommend meditative podcasts for children? My daughter would like a bedtime meditation. Thanks for your free podcast, I really appreciate them.
You are welcome, Tara. I’m not familiar with any such podcasts, but if you do a search you might find one. I do intend to create such a meditation. How old is your daughter? What do you think she would like?
Hi I am another grateful user of your podcasts from your website and now your iPad apps.
I would also love to be able to offer my 10yr old son a meditation suitable for introducing him to meditation and relaxation. He is suffering anxiety which we are getting him help for but I would like to be able to offer him something to help him relax and settle happily at bedtime rather than him getting worried that he can’t get to sleep.
Thank you for your wonderful meditations & special music.
Michelle, it’s my goal to create a children’s bedtime meditation. I hope I can do that soon!

Also hoping ur meditation helps with our plans to conceive! Thanks so much!!
What good news, Linzi. So glad At Ease is helping. Good luck with conceiving! Certainly being relaxed should help.
+I used to be severely depressed during these winter months. Thanks to some help from a Hypnotherapist, and your guided meds, I am now Happy as a Clam.
Who’d a’ thunk??
Hi Anthony. Life is full of surprises, isn’t it? Good to hear this!
I’ve been using Simply Being – it’s been awesome. I posted an entry on my blog about it http://www.TheOneThing.net.
I have a Twitter for retirees at http://www.Twitter.com/Safe4Retirement and I’ve tweeted about the experience as well. Thanks!
Great blog post, Jack! Glad you’re enjoying the Simply Being app and meditation. Best wishes.

Can you tell me what exactly is the difference between Simply Being and Relax & Rest?
Thanks
HI MIke, the main difference is that Simply Being is basically the same meditation but with four different lengths (5, 10, 15 and 20 mins). The Relax & Rest app has 3 meditations, also of different lengths, but they have a focus on relaxing. (All the meditations are relaxing but this is a special focus.) Relax & Rest has a 5 min breath meditation, a 12 min meditation for resting deeply which many people use for sleep, and a whole body relaxation exercise. Simply Being has more to do with letting go and being in the present moment.
I listened to a friend’s Simply Being Guided Meditation app on her iphone and really enjoyed it. All I have is an ipod (not a ipod touch). Is there any way to up load the app from itunes to my ipod? If not, is there any way to get the app to work on a cd … and then I can load it on my ipod?
Thanks
pk
pk, you can’t download the app onto a CD. We do, however, have a number of albums with meditations available on iTunes, as well as a free podcast. Search on Meditation Oasis. Glad you enjoyed the meditation!
I just heard the Simply Being meditation on my friend’s iPhone and was wondering if it’s available for sale on CD? (or MP3?) I don’t have an iPhone, but would love to be able to use this awesome meditation. I think it could change my life!
Thank you,
Linda
Linda, we have a number of CDs in our online Shop — http://meditationoasis.com/store/guided-meditation-cds.php. You can purchase even more meditations as mp3s — http://meditationoasis.com/store/guided-meditation-cds.php. We don’t have the exact same meditation that’s on the Simply Being app anywhere else, but you’ll find there are other meditations with the same effect. You are also welcome to listen to our free podcast — it has another version of the Simply Being meditation, and many others — http://www.meditationoasis.com/podcast/listen-to-podcast/
Hi Mary.
I have fibromyalgia with lots of pain in all 4 quadrants of my body. I’m pretty new to meditation, and have found it is the thing that helps most to relieve my pain. Thank you for making your podcasts free!
I also purchased the chakra balancing app for my iphone and have been practicing… I’ve noticed that the one piece that seems to lower my pain level the most is the “centering” exercise on the app. I think the tone of the background music particularly works on some level– strange but true. Is it possible that the particular tone actually effects me so strongly? And, if so, can you tell me what tone that is and how I can get more of it? Of course, your voice and technique are lovely and helpful. You are teaching me to meditate, and making my life better! Thank you.
You are welcome, Jenny. Chances are it isn’t a particular tone that is affecting you on the Centering meditation. It may be that particular meditation for some reason, or the music in the background in general. If you are interested in tones to help with your pain, however, you might consider purchasing the Musical Massage Sound Therapy CD that we carry on the website. It is not our music, but we’ve used it a lot. It has been found to help some people with pain and it’s very balancing.
Hi. I am looking for a meditation app for my mother-in-law. I have seen only one where there is a seated figure and you can hear the heartbeat rhythm with guided meditation. I think this would work for her if you know which one that is, or would love a recommendation on another good one for someone in their 70s.
Moira – Don’t know about the heartbeat meditation, but the Breath Awareness meditation on the podcast might be good for her.

Just wanted to say how happy I am to have found your apps. I have always wanted to get into mediation and this has helped me get started in so many ways.
Thank you!

First of all, thank you so much, Mary and Richard, for your website and your podcasts. It has been a great help for me to relax at work or at home, to refresh my mind, to feel re-energized.
I am currently 8 month pregnant and I would wish that you had something for pregnant women – to get in touch with the baby, maybe meditation when contractions start or for the labor. Your calming voice helps me to relax, Mary, and forget about the things that worry me. So if it not too much, would you please consider making a podcast for pregnancy. Please!
Aurelia, I do want to do such a meditation. Don’t know when I’ll be able to though. In the meantime, I’ve heard from women who have used various podcast meditations throughout pregnancy and the birth process with success. Wishing you and your baby a smooth birth!
Do you have any guided meditaion podcasts or CDs that have nature sounds as background vs the music?
Allison, one podcast meditation, Guided Meditation for Anger, has the sound of a stream. None of the CDs have nature sounds. Of course, most of our apps do.

[...] iSleep Easy: This is also be Meditation Oasis this app is incredible. I have struggled with insomnia and difficult sleeping since I was a teenager. I don’t do OTC or prescription meds, so those types of sleep aids are out. (Besides, back when I DID take OTC and prescription meds, they had a terrible effect on me.) I’ve since tried melatonin and Gaia’s Sound Sleep. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don’t. I had also tried GABA supplements, but I occasionally encounter uncomfortable side effects (I get horrendously itchy & flushed, all over – though they say there’s no “allergies” to this stuff, I beg to differ) that made me toss the bottle, finally. Essentially, no sleep attained through ingesting anything is really worth it, for me. So when I found this app, I was eager to try it. IT WORKS. And if my monkey brain is on overdrive, this app at least helps me to relax and feel less crazed about how tired I am or will be. This app is a little more in depth. It has pre-made playlists or you can make a custom playlist. There are varying levels of meditation – short, guided meditations to simply help you initially settle into bed, breathing exercise, longer guidance in letting go and getting yourself to sleep, and a meditation for when you wake up in the middle of the night feeling anxious and unable to get back to sleep. (I have trouble falling asleep initially and then I often wake up. This helps.) I made a playlist that includes the affirmations meditation (affirmations to “set the stage” for sleep), then the autogenic meditation (14 minutes of focusing on relaxing each part of your body from toes to head), then “relax into sleep” (“Guided meditation to help you let go and relax, so that sleep comes effortlessly on it’s own.”) Lastly, in this custom playlist, I chose to have the background sound of a lake continue for 20 minutes after the last guided meditation. (There are several sounds & music bits to choose from.) I find meditations to be FAR more useful and healthy, in getting yourself to sleep. If you can teach yourself to relax and settle your mind, that will only serve to make it easier each additional time, without the use of pills (natural, or otherwise.) [...]

Completely random question, but whenever I listen to the apps I always wonder what the lady talking looks like and what her name is! For some reason in my head she’s called Laura and has sandy blonde hair.
Lydia, the lady talking on the guided meditations is me, Mary Maddux. I feel like the less people know about or focus on me the better. The meditations are all about you and your experience, and having your own image of what “the lady” looks like probably works best!
Hi! Does the iSleep Easy app require an Internet connection while it’s running? Thanks!
Tonya, the iSleep Easy app does not require an internet connection to work.
Hi there
I have bought your Relax and Rest app and find it really good!
I study sound design in Denmark and I am currently writing an exam rapport about production management. I am focussing on meditation apps, and this is where I would be happy if you can help me.
I can see that you are among the most popular meditation apps on the market.
I am very interested in your sales numbers and your strategies. Is there a chance you can reveal the numbers from 2012, so I can see how the pro’s do it when I have to write about budget?
Thank you for your time!
Best Regards
Astrid

Astrid, I will answer in an email.
Dear Mary,
I am writing to share my experience of using the “Breathe and Relax” app. I came across this app while looking for a way to relax myself in-between different lessons at school and to help me focus before revising my lessons. After a while I discovered that I felt most uncomfortable AFTER studying (not BEFORE my revisions), for I was so exhausted that I started hyperventilating. It was at such moments that I was reminded of the breathing exercises I learned from this app. They helped me regain control of my breathe and hence stopped the hyperventilation.
However, I would like to suggest that the longer breathing meditations of the Meditation Oasis podcasts may be added to the app, so that the app may be used for short breathing breaks as well as longer meditation sessions.
Thank you very much again for producing “Breathe and Relax”.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,
Eleanor
Hi Eleanor, I’m glad you’ve found the Breathe & Relax app useful. Actually, the longer breathing exercise on the app is 12 minutes, not much different than the two breathing meditations on the podcast. Have you used that one?
Dear Mary,
Thank you very much for your response. I tried the breathing exercise before using the 30-second breathing breaks in the app, but since then I seldom return to that exercise. As I see that there are 20-minute meditation sessions in other apps (e.g. Simply Being, Relax and Rest), and it is possible for us to combine your lovely voice with music and nature sounds, how about having the same functions in “Breathe and Relax” too? By the way, I’m just throwing out a wild idea about the app, and I hope it’s useful.
Another thing I appreciate about “Breathe and Relax” is the alarm sounds. I smile when I hear your voice: “Remember to breathe……”
Wish you a new year filled with peace and joy,
Eleanor
Thank you for the suggestions, Eleanor. We will certainly consider them! Best wishes for the new year — may it bring fulfillment to the deepest desires of your heart.
I just purchases the Simply BEing app for iPhone. Is there only one 5 minute meditation on this app? When purchasing I was expecting to have several (if not more) to choose from in each duration. Please advise
paige, there are four times to choose from. Just tap the buttons with the time you want.
I have an Apple I Pad and wanted to download Music for meditation and relaxation on it but I don’t see it on the apps to download, I find this meditation very helpful.
Rita
Rita, It’s good to hear you are enjoying the music and website. I assume you are talking about our podcast episode of music by that name. There is an app called Meditation Oasis by Wizzard Media that gives you easy access to all the podcast episodes including that one. We also have an app called Attunement – Music to Upgrade Your Life with seven selections of music (although that particular piece is not on it).
Why aren’t these all available on Blackberry too? I have only seen ONE app for the BB
Shannon, we do now have more apps available on the new Blackberry 10. It uses the Android platform which is much better for apps like ours. It was very difficult to create good apps on the older Blackberry platform and therefore there are only two available — Simply Being and Relax & Rest. Those apps will work well on the older devices if” 1) you have WiFi and 2) you have a very strong, consistent connection. Thanks for asking.
