Mary,

I have been meditating once a week in my depression group for 10 months. The sessions during group have helped me significantly and I wanted to do the exercises at home. I was unsuccessful in leading myself as I was not focused enough.

For Christmas, I got an iPhone and decided to try out some apps for help with doing guided meditation exercises at home. Yours are by far the best I have come across. Mary, you have a very relaxing soothing voice that gently leads me through the exercises. An added benefit to me is that the wording you use is very similar to the wording my group leader uses. With more exploring I found out about the Podcasts which is what I now listen to most of the time. I usually listen to the "Letting Go" episode because "letting go" is at the root of my depression. I love it. I usually do it right before going to sleep so I can sleep with less anxiety. I've been going through a hard time lately and I wanted to thank you for your meditation exercises that have helped me achieve some peace in my daily life. Thank you.

Mary,

"All beings on earth open their eyes."

One by one, you're showing people how to open their eyes.

It helps many people to listen to your podcasts, myself included.

If only everyone could just stay present, stay together, stay awake, keep watching. Who knows what could be accomplished?

Thank you for bringing consciousness to this world. Do you feel it increasing? I do. It has become everyday practice to maintain presence whenever possible. It is almost like a frequency increasing.

I'll tell you what was told to me, in my own voice in my head, while meditating during a blizzard, what I believe to be possibly a glimpse of satori.

Save as many as you can.

Isn't that the most important thing to do?

I've asked myself- save them from what?

I think it is themselves, their mind, their ego, or maybe their attachment to past and future, attachment to suffering.

I have tried to show others how to be at peace, but so many are lost in thought, they don't seem ready.

Media, such as your podcasts, may be the key to mass consciousness. It may be the most important step in human evolution.

Thank you for Meditation Oasis.

Sincerely,

Matt

Dear Mary,

in 2009 and 2010 i've been meditating with your podcasts/guidance. It brought me ease when needed, creativity when i was stuck, trust when i was looking at the world with despair. After a time of not meditating i signed up for a course in Zen meditation. Mostly because i missed meditating and wanted to try it without the guidance.

After the first view Zen sessions and going trough the barriers of sitting in silence - i was pleased to discover that your guidance had found ground in me. The words of advice on feelings and thoughts used in the guided meditations just 'popped up' out of nowhere. Still i hear or learn things (from my Zen teacher, a friend, a child or be it a passing neighbour) that i first experienced and learned during meditating with your guidance.

Thank you for this, i will carry it with me for the rest of my life.

You are welcome, Teresa. Years ago I would never have imagined this coming together of technology and inner development. It has been a surprising and wonderful journey sharing meditation in this way. For some, the use of a smartphone led to the discovery of meditation, and others have been brought to the technology for the access it gives to so much enrichment. Enjoy exploring this new world!
I am not one to be particularly interested in technology or social media but today I am most excited to finally have a reason to acquire an ipod/phone... whatever... so that I may fill it with your soothing voice. I have listened to only one podcast and simultaneously read your philosphy and a few comments. As someone who knows she needs a trainer for physical exercise, it finally dawned on me that the same applies for meditation and I have found you and this site. Thank you so much... I may even learn what an app is now. ;o)

Timothy, I can't imagine why this would offend me, unless you think I'd expect you to have approached the meditation with some sort of reverence and seriousness of purpose rather than just something to block out the "buzz saw" ;-) Who cares? People can use these meditations in whatever way works for them (and they do use them in all sorts of unexpected ways). It's wonderful, though, to see that it's led you to discover meditation. What a great story! You are welcome, and thanks for sharing this.

Mary, don't be offended, but I downloaded Simply Being as something calming to listen to while on vacation with my Parents. Let me explain! The first night at the hotel I couldn't sleep due to my Dad 'sawing wood', but the second night I came up with the brainstorm of downloading and listening to your guided meditation to help block out the buzz saw like noise, bringing me to a peaceful, restful and relaxing slumber. What is cool, is that now that vacation is over, I'm still using the Simply Being app and discovered the app's true purpose: teaching meditation. A strange way to discover meditation, but I'm glad I did. Thanks.
