Thanks, Anis. I just read the post and left a comment. I haven't managed a blog post this week, and this gives me an opportunity to think about why that might be!

Mary, I have finally done the post on why writers procrastinate. I have mentioned you as well (with a link back) as the foremost reason that came out was the one that you gave. You can see it here -

Thank you, Anis. Good question! I haven't had to work under deadlines for awhile, except for self-imposed ones. For example, I'm trying to write a blog post every Monday, and the deadline ensures that I spend time on that. I see what I'm inspired to write about and start writing and if that just isn't working, I try another subject. But bottom line is I can put it off if I want. I have a lot of leeway...

Enjoyed <a href="http://thewritecorner.wordpress.com/2009/08/21/procrastination-–-good-or-bad/" rel="nofollow">your post on procrastination</a> and will follow your investigation of this on your blog. There's a lot to this subject!

Very well written, Mary. And what a good comparison. You cannot force yourself to complete a project just like you cannot force a fruit to ripen. But what do you do if you have a deadline?

In addition to the lessons learned from fruit picking, this reminds me of my youth, when there were two acres of wild blackberries that we would pick every summer for blackberry pie. Yummy!

Hi karthik, I often feel this journey is all about trusting life, and I think when we are in nature, we feel that trust all around us.

It's wonderful what nature can teach you.. living with ease, with peace and with harmony. Nice to hear your berry picking story and learnings.
I just finished writing a blog (http://philomusings.blogspot.com/2009/08/observing-thought-cycle.html) along the same lines: "Letting go" and then I read your blog, which is on a similar topic :)
My letting go also had to do with the negative stuff that goes on in the mind: fears and worries. I sure can learn a lot to trust life.
