Thank you for sharing your experience with this meditation, Ad-astra. It's great to hear how the practice of the meditation carried over in you life. You describe it so well.

Thank you a lot for this one! Not only economical and political worries can be soothed by this meditation, but also I could overcome many family conflicts that sometimes can grow and blindfold the participants, not letting them focus on something more important. I practiced this meditation for a few times, and I could manage to pay less attention to all that, so now it's getting a lot better.

Best regards from Russia :)

Thanks for adding your comment, Mark.

We have a different approach to thoughts and emotions in meditation, and that is to simply allow them to be without trying to manipulate or change them. There are so many approaches to meditation. Ours is one that has to do with discovering peace in the midst of whatever thoughts and emotions naturally arise.

I find that thoughts about politics are the most intrusive and distracting of all the random thoughts that go through my head. I also have noticed that those thoughts can very easily lead me to becoming angry.

Fortunately, by being mindful I have become aware of those thoughts and their effects and I can shift my focus to things around and within me and be free of them.

Of course I am very pleased by the results of the election and I have had the great privilege of voting for Barack Obama in every single election he has run in. And it's neat to know that he lives less than half a mile from me.
