jamison,
1) We have a website, heartofhealing.net, that has a lot of content on healing and health. It doesn't address diet and food, however. Ask Dr. Weil has a lot of good things about diet. We personally use the principles of Ayurveda a lot.
2) It's fine to listen laying in bed at bedtime. If you fall asleep, your subconscious mind will still be hearing the words.
3) Thanks for pointing this out. We can change that for future podcasts, and are looking into what we can do about the ones already published.

Glad you are enjoying the podcasts! It definitely doesn't work to fight thoughts. Sometimes they will take over though, and you can let that be OK. The idea is to just come back to the meditation when you become aware the mind has wandered.

This one may be for me... I have been sick a lot lately...

May I ask a few questions?

1) Do you have a blog or site you recommend for using along with meditation that focuses on diet/foods for healing and living a healthy, happy life?

2) Since I am kind of new to meditation, I am wondering, is it bad/wrong/not recommended that I listen to meditations as I lay in bed at night to go to sleep? I focus on what is being said and can follow the meditations easily, but more often than not I am asleep before it is over... which I kind of like :) But fear I am not getting the whole good out of it by missing out.

3) A recommendation. I download your podcast to my Windows Mobile 6.1 SmartPhone using a great (and FREE) Program called BeyondPod. Your RSS feed descriptions are great, but once I have downloaded the podcast I seek, and go to Windows Media PLayer to find it and play it, it has odd lables like "pod21" or "pod4" which is kind of impossible to scroll through to find the right meditation you want to listen to. Is there any way to set your podcasts so that they can be visible as "Relaxing into healing" and so forth?

Finally, a compliment. I love how in so many of your podcasts you say "let thoughts come and go"... so often I find myself fighting off thoughts in order to relax, yet the harder I fight, the less I relax. On the other spectrum, if I let the thoughts come and let them take over my head, I also cant relax. Allowing them to come then letting them go is helpful.

You are very welcome, Joy.

It is possible to meditate too much. It's like anything, we need to find the right balance of meditation and activity, and that differs for different people. It may also differ at different times in your life. It also depends on the type of meditation you do and what kinds of activities you do during the day.

Usually twice a day meditation is ideal, although it should be fine to add in shorter breaks, like the brief meditation on Pure Relaxation. A possible sign of too much meditation would be feeling "spacey". Without consulting individually with someone it would be hard to be more specific.

Any meditation that is relaxing should help with anxiety, although body-centered meditations might be especially helpful. On the podcast, we have the Body Awareness Meditation and Grounding Meditation. We also have a Body Aware CD.

Dear Mary,
Thank you for having the free podcasts, I am regularly using Relaxing into Healing. I have been having some health issues and emotional issues for quite a while. I am doing yoga 2x a week and trying to meditate 2x a day. My husband and I purchased the Sleep Easy, Pure Light and Pure Relaxation CDs. We love them all.
I do have a question, can you meditate too much? And, what would be a good meditation for anxiety?
Again, thank you for your wonderful website, I have told quite a few people about it.

You are welcome, Pat. Yes, stress worsens problems! Relaxation definitely helps with healing and should really be a part of any healing program. Doing the meditation regularly and a couple times a day certainly increases its effect.

Of course, it's not a substitute for the other kinds of medical attention someone might need. (I always feel I need to mention that as when I use the word healing about one of my meditations.)

I wish you well with your healing process and hope that it can be as peaceful and comfortable as possible.

Blessings to you! Mary

I want to thank you for your podcasts. I never felt so soothed or felt such calm when hearing your voice. I am trying to heal my body (lungs) and I feel stress really worsens the problem. I will listen to this several times a day hoping I can get my health back.
Many Blessings to you..

Dear Mary

I am a recovering alcoholic and have been using your podcasts to assist me in this journey.

I am now meditating every morning/evening. Along with regular AA meetings this program is assisting me greatly with my journey of recovery.

I am now looking at how to further enhance my spiritual life.

Thank you so much for your free podcasts - they have been an "essential" item for my daily peace of mind.

Thank you

Jenny
